The Indian Cricket team comes to Bondi Beach

Following Australia's controversial defeat of India to achieve a world record equalling 16 consecutive test wins and amid the turmoil surrounding the future of the tour, the Indian cricketers came to Bondi Beach.

They got together on Bondi's famous white sand for a relaxing game of beach volleyball.

The guys played against each other.

None of them had ever played before but ball skills seem very transferable and it didn't take long before they got the hang of it.

Then the Bondi Lifeguards got in on the act and challenged the Indians.

It was a great challenge.

The Lifeguards soon found they were up against worthy opponents.

At the end no one knew the score, not even Sachin.

As a momento of the impromptu visit and the volleyball challenge Lifeguard boss Hoppo exchanged shirts with the Indian team manager in a spirit of great sportsmanship.

The great Sachin Tendulkar found time for a chat with Cathy and Michael. Straight to the pool room guys!!

New Years Eve 2007 at Lush

There is always a huge concert at Bondi Beach on New Year's Eve. This year 15,000 people crammed in to see a line up of acts headlined by Groove Armada.

At Lush on Bondi it's a fun night. The girls like to get dressed up and we sell water to the big crowd all night.

Here's Lisa doing her thing.

Lush Christmas 2007

It's great that lots of people like to have their Christmas Day at Bondi Beach .....

.... and lots of them come to Lush.

It's pretty hard finding a seat but somehow everyone manages.

It's a busy day for the crew. Here are Michael, Adriano, Paolo, Hayley and Bjoern in front.

Sculpture By The Sea

Every year in November they have Sculpture By The Sea around the cliff walk between Bondi Beach and Tamarama. There are hundreds of sculptures dotted along the path, on the ebach and in the park, surf club and pavilion. It attracts thousands of people, specially on the 3 weekends the exhibition is open. Here are some of this year's sculptures.

The Crew - October 2007

It's been pretty quiet over winter. Not too much to get excited about.

Daylight saving starts tonight and we're getting back into gear for summer. There are some new faces and some old faces in the Crew.

We got Italians, Brazilians, Spaniards, Swedes, Mexicans and French but somehow the customers get served!

Paolo, Raffi and Adriano are still with us. Fernando has come on board. Raffi makes the best coffee in Bondi Beach and Adriano is king of the breakfasts, and lunches and ,,, Paolo keeps everyone on the ball and Fernando is learning from the experts.

Lots of new girsl - Jess and Adriana from Mexico, Malin from Sweden, Caroline from France. Lisa must have been having a day off - she's from Sweden too.

You mightn't believe it, but they do work hard ....

...... most of the time!

It's not often Stevo gets a look in and here he looks pretty squeezed by the heavies!

Two days after the storm - the clean up.

Council brings in the bulldozers. They will spend weeks pushing all the sand back so that the beach will be back to the way it was before the storm. The local rumour is that this mother costs $25,000 a week.

This is how the skate bowl looks. I don't suppose they will be able to get much machinery in here so it will probably be down to the shovels. Should keep a few of the council staff busy for a while.

Out the front of Lush on Bondi they have several bobcats and guys on shovels getting all the sand into heaps ...

..... before they load it onto trucks and take it back to the beach.

After just a day things are pretty much back to normal in front of the Pavilion but it will take a lot longer in other areas along the beachfront.

The day after the storm - Lush is on the beach!

The storm broke this morning after 4 days. There were big sets of rolling waves coming in from a long way out.

We had been closed for 4 days and today Lush on Bondi was really on the beach.

For the first time since we have been here, our tables and chairs were sitting on several inches of sand.

Most of our customers said they loved having the sand under their feet but it is more than likely that Waverley Council will be down tomorrow to put it all back on the beach. It's going to be a big job!

Winter comes to Bondi Beach

It was only two weeks ago we were crowing about how good the weather was. Well, winter has come right on cue at the beginning of June. According to the media this has been the roughest weather in quite a long time. The storm raged for 2 days with huge seas and a gale force southerly blowing in to Bondi Beach.

When the storm eased people couldn't believe what had happened to the beach.

The front of the Pavilion looks like there's been a snowstorm.

We don't often see Lush on Bondi looking like this !!

It's not surprising that we're closed !

This is how the main Pavilion steps look today.

All this sand was blown up here during the storm when it was soaking WET.

The steps in front of the Bondi Surf Club have just about completely gone.

This is the sea wall running up to North Bondi. Normally it's 2m high.

These seats on the promenade won't be being used for a while.

Here's the car park heading away from the Pavilion. It looks more like the snowfields than the beachfront.
